In recent years there has been a growing popularity in CBD dog treats. These are not to be confused with cannabis products made for human consumption. If you’re not quite sure what the difference between cannabis and CBD is, you’re not alone.
While they do come from the same plant, CBD, short for cannabidiol, does not get you ‘high’ like THC does because it is not psychoactive. They are both natural substances extracted from the cannabis plant and are used in a variety of ingestible products to induce relaxation. Current research revolving around CBD shows that it can reduce anxiety, increase appetite, and help to reduce seizures.
CBD can be consumed alongside other medications your dog may be taking, but we recommend talking to your vet first before trying it out. While there are no known side effects of CBD, we suggest starting off with smaller doses (5mg) to see how your dog reacts to it.
At Downtown Dog Lounge we sell CBD for dogs in the form of treats and oil drops. Stop by and talk to our concierge to learn more about the benefits of these products.
